GARY H. HURST
Gary has overall responsibility for XS/Group operations. As part of his responsibility, he works closely with insurance company representatives to encourage the development of insurance products and rating mechanisms that meet the needs of XS/Group’s current and prospective customers.
Gary joined XS/Group’s parent company, CIMA, in 1980, after ten years of insurance industry experience in marketing, underwriting, policyholder service and management skills training with various national insurance companies. He has a BA degree from the University of Maryland, with a major in English and Sociology, and a minor in Psychology.
LAURIE S. COLEMAN
Executive Vice President
Laurie has been overseeing XS/Group’s day-to-day operations since 2004. Although it is rare for Lloyd’s of London syndicates to cede underwriting authority, Laurie’s years of experience have earned her the distinction of being one of the few brokers named with underwriting authority by Lloyd’s under six separate coverslips.
She has extensive experience in association and other group business, including program design, administration, marketing, customer service, and negotiation of rates and program enhancements. The programs for which Laurie has had primary responsibility encompass a variety of risk exposures in both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, and thousands of individual insured organizations.
Laurie’s insurance career also includes experience in commercial property and casualty account service, claims, and employee benefits.
TRACY WARD DENMAN, CIC
Tracy is responsible for placing new business through XS/Group. She is our primary contact for brokers seeking coverage for professional liability, general liability, property, commercial auto and umbrella, directors and officers liability, personal insurance and other lines.
Tracy began her insurance career in 1987, and she has gained extensive experience in property and casualty insurance marketing and customer service, with a particular emphasis on professional liability. Tracy works closely with the London markets, and is named on XS/Group’s five binding authorities through Lloyd’s.
She is a graduate of Towson University with a degree in Business Administration, and has held the Certified Insurance Counselor designation since 1995.
MARY KATHERINE HURST
Mary Katherine joined XS/Group in 2015, after working with XS/Group’s parent company, The CIMA Companies, Inc., for 14 years. Before joining CIMA, she had not only 10 years’ experience in commercial and personal lines of insurance but also 13 years in senior management of large nonprofit organizations where she supervised staff, negotiated contracts, and secured grants.
Mary Katherine is responsible for placing new business through XS/Group. She is our contact for brokers seeking coverage for general liability, property, commercial auto and umbrella, as well as other lines.
She has a bachelor’s degree from Towson University, with a dual major in English and Psychology.
DEBORAH H. CUSTIS, ACSR, MLIS
Senior Account Executive
Debbie is responsible for renewing all business placed through XS/Group, and is our primary contact for brokers seeking nonprofit management liability insurance.
She has more than two decades of property and casualty insurance experience, working directly with customers on all aspects of service, as well as with agents, brokers and underwriters. Her specialties have included environmental liability risks, professional liability and more than 15 years in directors and officers liability coverage for nonprofit organizations.
Debbie holds the professional designation of Accredited Customer Service Representative.
AARON R. JONES
Senior Account Executive
Legal Services and Defender Services
Aaron has lead responsibility for XS/Group’s program that offers professional liability (errors and omissions) coverage for legal-aid professionals and public defenders. From a new customer’s initial application to the renewal of accounts that have been with us since the 1990’s, to the oversight of claims, Aaron is responsible for all aspects of service.
In addition to serving our customers in the legal profession, he has extensive experience working with nonprofit organizations for insurance needs that include directors and officers liability and volunteer insurance.
Aaron graduated from Penn State University and has completed numerous continuing education courses through The Hartford School of Insurance’s Commercial Lines Customer Service/Account Manager Program.
